(c+p'd from TA; why not?)
Back to my usual mixtape format for this one, so those looking for seamless layered transitions of a single genre over 80 minutes best look elsewhere.
A bit of an odd concept, this. I started with a single track, and worked from that to see where it lead me. However, this particular track isn't the first one; it's actually somewhere in the middle -can you guess which one? Most of these tunes are just things that have been getting my attention in the last few months, with a couple old favorites thrown in as I see fit. The only real difficulty I had was figuring out what kind of theme I ended up with. For some reason, thoughts of Sol and other stars kept cropping up, so I went with that for my title. Thus...
THE SUN AMONGST THE STARS
Track List:
1. TUU - Body Of Light
2. Zen Paradox - Distant Land
3. Mouse On Mars - Future Dub
4. Pitch Black - Freefall
5. Children Of The Bong - Ionospheric State
6. Frank de Wulf - Drums In A Grips
7. Afrika Bambaataa featuring TC Izlam - Almighty Ra
8. Juno Reactor - Nitrogen, Pt. 2
9. Sequential - X-Ray Delta One
10. Microwave Prince - Cycle Evolution
11. Isomise - Kho Phang Gain
12. Distant System - Cloud Nebula
13. L.S.G. - Westside
(Megaupload Download)
Let me know what ya'll think. And, if you can guess what my initial track was, you get to choose the theme of my next MixTape! Well, only if you want to...

You've been busy. Any free music in set form is much appreciated here, so I'll give it a listen. We'll see about that riddle of yours.

Yeah, as the saying goes, strike the iron while it's hot. This might even become a monthly thing.

Pff, is there any sort of hint possible?
Is it one of the recent tracks or one of the older ones?

I've already mentioned it's somewhere in the middle -that eliminates 2/3's of the choices right there.

All right then.
Ehm, after the first few listens Ionospheric State felt like the best guess even before i read that it was somewhere in the middle. The fact that it's apparently from 1995 made me doubt that choice since the opening post sort of suggests to me that old favorites were thrown in later. Drums In A Grips is a right old eargasm, but it doesn't feel like it inspired the rest of the set. I highly doubt it's almighty Ra which is kind of low key. Same goes for nitrogen and freefall. So I'll stay with my original bet. Watch me be horribly wrong.

It was Almighty Ra.
I honestly thought it was very obvious, considering it was the 'middle track', and Ra is the Sun God of Egyptian lore. Heh, someone guessed it right at TA for those very reasons, but never got a 'requested theme' for a new one from him, so I went with the 'Comedown MixTape' instead. Was more, er, inspired to do that one at the time anyway.
