...used to cover singles?
Seriously. May 30th was the last one, and it was the bloody Anthem. Sasha's got a new single out as Coma, Diggers has his epic Gridlock (or whatever it is) coming out and all the Ibiza hits will be getting their money-spinning major label releases about now. They're all raving about Deadmau5 and he can't stop releasing singles. This shit needs covering!
Singles are about the only format I can easily download on this Uni accomodation connection, so I'll happily take a few on. Chris: go through some releases lists and pick out a couple for Jon to find. Jon, get them to me. This slack patch has to end. We review dance music, which is built on singles, and we haven't reviewed one for over three months!

Hrm. Well, here's some that are fresh this week:
Kerri Chandler - A Night With Dick: The Dick Dickler EP
Computer Rockers - Computer Interface
Datarock - Fa Fa Fa
The Force - Something Out There
Forteba - Space Between Us
Gus Gus - Need In Me
Karl F - Night Launch
Koma & Bones - Letters
Komonaznuk - Fear
Lerosa - Design EP
Spicelab - Re: Break
Tune Brothers - I See You Watching
John Warwick - After Dark EP
Tim & Jon, get your search on!
And yes, I know singles have been highly neglected lately. I suppose I just got caught up in searching for new albums and comps lately, that unless it was a super-massive-ultra-intense single, I didn't figure it'd be worth doing, especially if it'd end up on an album later on. But looking through some singles just now, I realized there IS quite a bit we are missing out on.

That last one seems disproportionately large. Are you sure you haven't downloaded the album "Space Between Us", rather than the single?

I'll take Gus Gus, been ages since I've listened to a single by them.

The 4 singles I found are ready. I tried searching for the rest again with no luck. To make this easier on J. I'll list file sizes so he can pick which to download. You might want to come up with a new list of singles to make up for the ones not found. If you want I can search for "singles 2007" and see what comes up.
|
You'd come up with too many. Heck, the 8 Weeks search at Juno alone yields hundreds. I'll just check every couple weeks.

Yeah that must be the whole album. I didn't realize there was a difference. That was the only archive to download.
When I said search I meant an amule search. See what I can get and not just what is new.

Well I'd rather saw my own hands off than cover any more deep house right now: the stuff is a bloody nightmare to write about, so count it out on genre and format grounds. I'll take the other two: Datarock and Tune Brothers.

I hate to see you not have what you need. I guess if there is anything else you'd like to cover I could find that. I have no idea why I had such trouble finding those. It might be that singles aren't what people want. It seems if they're going to download they want albums. Or maybe most singles are never made into archives and I should be searching for mp3 tracks. That'd take a lot more time and work to find though.

Well, most of them are quite new, and since I was browsing Juno for it, mostly on vinyl too. So they'd probably take a little longer to actually find their way online, if ever.
Really, Juno may not be the most ideal website to browse new singles. Maybe one of the larger download stores like Beatport would be better.

Don't worry, I meant the Forteba album. It's deep house/tech house, which is genre-speak for "incredibly difficult to say anything significant about".
You probably couldn't find them because they seem to be fairly minor affairs. I wouldn't say any of them are close to notable releases: they're just to get something in the database and atone for our slack patch. Chris and I will have to do our usual thing of sitting down and working out what deserves covering at the moment.

I just thought I'd check in. Does anyone need anything new? I have a few new releases I downloaded randomly.
David Guetta - Pop Life (Sounds very G&D but the vocals can make you sick)
High Contrast - Tough Guys Don't Dance
In Search Of Sunrise 6 Ibiza - Mixed By Tiesto
Gatecrasher Immortal - 14 Years Of Gatecrasher (Same old fluff)
Nothing great but I do have them right now. I'm going to delete them if no one wants them.

Er... haven't you been keeping up to date on the re-caps? ISOS6 has been done.
I'd love to do High Contrast, but I've got so much on my plate right now that it'd be a while before I ever get to them.

Well I'll hold on to that for you. Just tell me when you want it.

Yeah, I was going to say that High Contrast is the most interesting out of that bunch, and we could do with covering some jungle again. I've got stuff in the pipeline yet though, so hold on to it.

Well, if anyone else wants to do High Contrast, go for it. In fact, I INSIST upon it. I'm about the only guy that's covered any dee'bee since, like, May 2006! It's someone else's turn.
